A call to arms!
Hello everyone, I hope you are all keeping safe and well in these strange
times and I guess like me you can’t wait for rugby to resume. Our club
has taken a massive financial hit during the last 4 months. In simple
terms, from 23rd March, all of our income streams came to an abrupt
end, but we still had a large amount of bills to pay and we still had the
ongoing costs of keeping our clubhouse and grounds in good condition.
The operations board and a whole host of volunteers have worked
extremely hard to generate additional funding to try and keep our heads
above water. We have been successful in obtaining various available
grants, and I’m sure you are aware we set up a crowdfunding page,
which is proving to be a great success. We are not out of the woods yet,
we still have a long way to go. I can see this taking a long time and lots
of hard work and effort to get us back on track. But I’m sure that with the
great community spirit we have at Hull Ionians, we will get through this.
This Saturday, I will be taking part in the Ionians bike ride, I’ll be joining
up with over 60 club members at Brantingham Park and we’ll be biking a
gruelling 36 miles through the East Yorkshire villages. The total
collective mileage will equate to 2177 miles, which is the distance from
Hull Ionians to the Ionians islands in Greece. On our return to
Brantingham Park (approx 1.30pm) I will be changing out of my sweaty
Lycra. Once I have recovered I will join you all with a pint and hearty conversation, definitely no music.
I would really appreciate it if you
could support myself and the other club members taking part in
Saturday's ride out. You can do this by donating on our Crowdfunding

be so proud of our membership if we could achieve this target before we
get back to the Club on Saturday afternoon, please see what you can

It would be great to see you all down at the club on Saturday, the
weather looks good and remember we do have plenty of open spaces.
Why not come down and safely enjoy a few drinks, grab some pizza,
and maybe tap your toes and clap your hands with a bit of a soliloquy.
