Hull Ionians RUFC are pleased to announce that Joe Makin will be stepping up into the role of Head Coach. Joe needs little introduction to our membership, having this season set a Club record of over 350 1stXV appearances, since joining us in September 2009. Whilst at Hull Ionians, Joe has captained Yorkshire and England Counties and will continue to represent the club on the field as a player. We are sure that Joe’s vast Club, County and International experience as a player will provide him with a solid base for his new coaching role. I am sure we all wish Joe well in his new role at the Club.

Joe will be assisted by an exciting looking off-field team:

Maliq Holden.
Maliq currently plays on the wing for Doncaster Knights. Maliq started his senior rugby career at Hartpury, before moving on to Cornish Pirates and now at the Knights, where he is a regular try scorer. Maliq has been with us since last season and will be our ‘Backs and Attack’ Coach.

Lewis Thiede.
Lewis currently plays Tight-Head Prop for Doncaster Knights. Lewis brings a vast amount of experience gained whilst playing at Wasps, London Scottish, Ealing Trailfinders and the Knights. Lewis will be our ‘Scrum and Contact’ Coach.

Alex Campbell.
I am sure we would all prefer to see Alex representing the Club on the field but an injury sustained in our first game of this season, at Huddersfield, has resulted in Alex being unable to play again this season. Alex will take on the role of Team manager, with responsibility for off-field Match day duties.
